Although there were some preliminary plans toward making Green Hills an incorporated town in the late 1950’s, those plans never transpired. Today, Green Hills attracts residents of all ages because of its amenities, shopping, restaurants, outdoor activities and proximity to Downtown Nashville. Vanderbilt, Belmont, and Lipscomb Universities are all nearby.

Green Hills is also home to The Mall at Green Hills, an enclosed high-end shopping center with some of Nashville’s best-known retailers and restaurants. The area also offers Restoration Hardware, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, a movie theater and numerous restaurants and entertainment options.

Green Hills Real Estate

Housing options range from condos and townhomes to multimillion-dollar luxury properties. Older brick-veneer ranch-style homes on large lots remain an important part of the neighborhood’s original housing stock.

Over the years, Green Hills has also experienced considerable infill development. Larger lots and remaining open spaces have been subdivided for higher-density residential development. In other locations, large newer-construction homes now stand on lots where older ranch homes once sat.

While Green Hills attracts affluent homeowners and investors, its condos and townhomes can provide an alternative entry point into this highly desirable Nashville area.
